NORTH EAST LINK FREEWAY UPGRADE
The proposed North East Link Program (NELP) will connect the Metropolitan ring road (M80) and Eastern Freeway (M3) completing a ring road around Melbourne which includes the Monash Freeway (M1).
As part of the project there will be upgrades to the M3 and M80, which will be delivered through Secondary Packages.
Kyriacou was engaged by Laing O’Rourke to deliver the Architecture & Urban Design for the RFP phase of the NELP South package. Kyriacou led the design approach for the entire project including responding to the NELP urban design strategy, architectural treatments, and bridge design development.
The South Package – one of the two secondary packages – will widen the Eastern Freeway between Hoddle Street in
the west and East Link in the east.
The Package scope includes:
-
An interchange with the Primary Package
-
A full freeway to freeway interchange with the Eastern Freeway
-
Additional lanes to the Eastern Freeway, including express lanes
-
Construction of the Doncaster Busway along the Eastern Freeway
-
Civil infrastructure, noise walls and urban design features, and
