LILYDALE STATION

Kyriacou, in collaboration with BKK Architects, Jacobs and ASPECT Studios delivered Lilydale Station as part of Victoria’s Level Crossing Removal Project programme. The new station features an iconic clock-tower, lifts, enhanced disability access, lighting and CCTV. A canopy covering three-quarters of the station platform provides shelter from the elements. Soft, earthy tones, weathered steel, zinc and Coldstream stone were applied to the new station in response to its local context and community preference.

The new station and the bus interchange has been built on the other side of the Maroondah Highway to better integrate with the town centre, while the existing Lilydale Station’s heritage value protected for a range of future uses. Walking and cycling connections have been improved with a direct link to the Lilydale-Warburton Trail.

A new open space was created for community gatherings with landscaping combining tens of thousands of trees, plants, shrubs, and grasses.
